Halving Journey FAQ: Steps, Scores and Saved Coins

This page concerns our independent Mtown query guide and its own original free virtual-coin Halving Journey simulator. No business identity or official service associated with the query has been independently established here.

One Uniform Starting Integer

Six independent fair bits select ONE uniformly distributed starting integer from one through sixty-four. They do not select six independent integers or use six separate random number generators. Starting from that integer, divide an even current value by two; replace an odd current value by three times that value plus one. Repeat until the first arrival at one and stop there.

Count Each Operation Separately

Every division by two and every three-times-plus-one operation counts as one step. An odd operation followed by division counts as TWO operations, not a combined step. Starting at one takes zero steps: do not continue the one-four-two-one cycle. Raw score is max(0, steps minus five). A trajectory that takes five or fewer operations scores zero.

Three Powers and Exact Expected Gross Credit

Choose linear, squared or cubed score before drawing. Gross multiplier equals 0.96 times raw score raised to the chosen power divided by that power’s exact unconditional mean. The means are 21.734375, 1478.890625 and 141493.578125 respectively. Seven of the sixty-four starting values score zero; fifty-seven score positively. A positive score can still return less than stake. Each mode has 96% exact unrounded expected gross credit of captured stake, not winning frequency, a promised session result or an external product’s odds.

Saved Wallet and Optional Refill

The wallet starts with 1000 free virtual coins. Settled wallet and fractional-credit carry persist in browser localStorage. Manual refill is available only while idle, with no active round or Auto queue and balance below ten. It sets balance to 1000 while preserving carry; it does not add 1000. Saved debited wallet and carry survive reload, but an unfinished round is not recovered or refunded. Keep the current round open until settlement. No account synchronizes devices or restores removed values.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Mtown operator verified?

No operator, official address, licence, application or commercial service associated with the query is independently established.

How many starting values are sampled?

One integer uniformly from one through sixty-four. Six fair bits encode that one integer; they are not six separate number draws.

What does an even value do?

Divide it by two and count one operation.

What does an odd value do?

Replace it by three times the value plus one and count one operation. A later division counts separately.

When does the sequence stop?

At its first arrival at one. Starting at one takes zero operations.

What is raw score?

Max(0, the number of operations minus five). A sequence of five or fewer operations scores zero.

What are the exact power means?

21.734375 for score, 1478.890625 for score squared and 141493.578125 for score cubed.

Does 96% guarantee my balance?

No. It is exact unrounded expected gross credit of stake, not winning frequency or a session promise.

Can Stop cancel my current round?

No. It cancels future Auto rounds; the active captured round finishes and settles.

When can I refill?

Only while idle, without a round or Auto queue and below ten coins. Manual refill sets balance to 1000 while retaining carry.

What happens if I reload mid-round?

The saved debited wallet and carry remain, but the unfinished round is not recovered or refunded.

Can coins become money?

No deposit, withdrawal, cash prize or coin exchange is offered.
